The EPSRC funded Pollutants in the Urban Environment Project team (PUrE) exhibited the PUrE Decision-Support Framework on stand R115 at the Sustainabilty Live Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham, between May 19th and 21st, 2009.
On Wednesday June 24th the PUrE sustainability Assessment Software was launched at an event held at Arupís London offices. The event was well attended, with delegates representing government agencies, industry and academia. A demonstration of the software was followed by presentations detailing how the platform had been used to: Determine the contribution of the sources and mixtures of pollutants to environmental and human health impacts in Sheffield; Examine the role of the Green Grid in London in reducing urban pollution and health impacts; Assess the implications of policies on ecological and health impacts for the former Avonmouth smelter; and a review of how uncertainty was considered in these sustainability assessments. The presentations were followed by a useful discussion that centred on how the software could be developed after the completion of the EPSRC funding period at the end of July, 2009.
